Best of ’09 is a series of posts inspired by Gwen Bell’s The Best of 09 Blog Challenge. It’s a challenge designed to help me write more and rediscover more grateful moments in my 2009! Hopefully, 31 posts in 31 days 😉
Best of ’09 Blog. That gem of a blog you can’t believe you didn’t know about until this year.
The gem. That I didn’t know about until 8 days ago…
So there I was, winding up another Thanksgiving holiday. This one I had the wonderful blessing of being knocked on my butt by a nasty flu, cold-thing.
I’ve been doing pretty well since my break-up with Wendy Cholbi. Figuring out what goes in my pretty little garden otherwise known as m squared.
Figuring out what to write about and how to take better care of myself in the writing process because I discovered this year that it is a process. One to behold. One to grow by. Just try it!
And being inspired all over the place by great writing and moreso, who is behind the writing. Writing that really touched me. Stopped me dead in my track to make me think. Moves me to tears. Helps me take care of myself on this wild ride Mad World.
Just a few of the people I read and get inspired by:
- Charlie Gilkey – gets me to just do it
- Havi Brooks – helps me love me better
- Naomi Dunford – marketing I get
- Mark Silver – the biz of hearts
- Dave Navarro – do it kick-butt style
- Johnny B Truant – laugh out loud
Plus tons of astrology blogs that I mention weekly in my twitter timeline. Then friends, clients, people I’ve met using Twitter.
I’ve Got A Golden Ticket
Well, really ten thousand. Or million. Billion even. Twitter is my golden ticket.
Is leader of Social media revolution a fair title for Twitter? I think so.
And I can’t even remember who’s tweet I saw first that mentioned my best 09 blog find. Whether it was Danielle La Port or Patti Digh, but it was wild fire… turkey not even digested in my belly (well it might have actually been nearer November 30th but even so, there probably was turkey digesting in my belly at the time).
A Blog Writing Challenge
“omg, you’ve got to be kidding? Ugh! Great. Something else to kick my own ass with. I’m not sure I want ass kicking with this blog writing challenge I’ve been having. I’m not sure getting all [insert your fav super hero here] on it will make the challenging part of writing everyday get any better.
:::: reads taste-y new-found blog post ::::
“Oh! Those topics look kinda cool. Hmmm.”
Thinking, “Yeah, I’m getting ideas already just reading these writing prompts…”
Writing prompts. Little ideas that start something. It’s like someone has already asked the question and I get to answer it.
And it’s so easy. And FUN. Hellooo easy & effortless (well most of the time, so far).
I didn’t expect the fun. I didn’t expect to discover Gwen Bell, this lovely lady… what does she do? A social media maven? OK. One that thinks up amazing ideas. Like a blog challenge that actually helps me (& 500 other people) write and also be more grateful for thirty-one 2009 moments.
And did I mention, I’m writing. Everyday! (just about)
There’s a different voice in it. I really don’t care what anyone thinks because Gwen’s already asked me what I think. It’s helping me ponder my own writing process. And what helps it. What doesn’t. And perhaps these writing prompt things are worth giving some additional consideration… when I think about… that book that wants to be written. Yati yati yah.
Have you met her? Are you doing the challenge?
Meeting fabulous people. Getting to know fabulous people better. And writing everyday.
Thanks Twitter. Thanks Gwen.
